Yellow Bus Transportation

Yellow bus transportation is provided to all eligible NYC scholars attending Bronx Excellence and Public Prep Academies (Girls Prep I, Girls Prep II, and Boys Prep) by the NYC Public Schools’ Office of Pupil Transportation (OPT). The buses do not contract directly with our schools, but instead are provided to us by the NYC Public Schools.

OPT provides busing for scholars, but the right to free transportation is not guaranteed and is dependent on where OPT draws the bus routes, as well as on the scholar’s good behavior while waiting for and riding the school bus. Scholars who do not behave on the school bus may have their riding privileges suspended or revoked.

Please visit this page for a transportation overview. At the bottom of the page, you can also find information such as specialized busing and OMNY cards.

NYC Schools Account

We encourage all families to create a NYC Schools Account (NYCSA) to view information on your child’s transportation services, busing information, and bus tracking. Your school can provide you with your child’s student ID and access code.

When a bus is late:

Sometimes buses run late due to traffic or mechanical errors. You can check the Bus Delays page to see if your child’s bus route has been affected each day.

To file a complaint:

If you identify a chronic issue or would like to file a complaint regarding your child’s bus or bus driver, please contact the school and they can assist you with filing a formal complaint with the Office of Pupil Transportation and the bus company directly.

You can also call the Office of Pupil Transportation (OPT) at (718) 392-8855.

You can contact OPT when:

  • You want to submit a complaint against a bus company. Please be sure to write down the incident number and share it with the school. We will follow up with the bus company about the matter.
  • You want to report a safety concern about a school bus.
  • You need help with an emergency involving a school bus.
  • You want to report an accident involving a school bus.

Please note that our schools can assist with these complaints, but the only ones that we independently solve are those involving scholar to scholar interactions.

The list of all NYC Public School bus companies and their contact information can be found here.
