Excellence Community Schools remains committed to educating and empowering students to become advocates for health equity, community engagement, and meaningful change.

This schoolyard garden directly connects students to NYBG’s broader mission to protect and care for Earth’s biodiversity, particularly through the Bronx River Watershed Health + Resilience Program.

Our three-time National Blue Ribbon award-winning Excellence model blends academic rigor with a nurturing, student-centered approach, focusing on high school and college preparation for lifelong success.

In 2023, Stamford Excellence was recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. The award honors high-achieving American public and private schools working to close education gaps among diverse populations. 

Bronx Excellence 2 received a National Blue Ribbon School award from the U.S. Department of Education in 2023. This award recognizes high-achieving American public and private schools working to close education gaps among diverse populations. 

In 2017, the Stamford Charter School for Excellence, where 98% of students were minorities and 62% came from low-income families, had 93.9% of its students meet or surpass the SBAC math standards. In contrast, only 71.4% of students in the Greenwich school district achieved the same standards.
